Drooling problem means excessive saliva flow from the mouth. It is generally used to mean drooling from the mouth in spastic people. Patients are usually either children or teenagers. Since they have a constant flow of saliva from their mouths, they walk around with handkerchiefs around their necks, and their families do not let these children out of the house. The solution to this situation is drooling surgery.

What is done in the surgery is to end the secretion flow of 4 or 5 of the 6 major salivary glands in the mouth. For this, either the salivary glands are removed, the salivary ducts of these glands are connected, or the ducts of some salivary glands are relocated. If the patient is a child, surgery becomes a much more delicate task, because the anatomical structures are much thinner. Surgery is relatively easy in the adult patient. After the operation, the patient is kept in the hospital for one or two nights.

The operation must be planned according to the age of the patient, the amount of saliva flow, and whether the patient is cooperative or not. It is an operation that generally pleases families and increases the comfort of life of the family.
